Poem
The eight year old girl walks home from school when she suddenly gets grabbed She is dragged to some bush nearby She gets raped The rapist disappears, never to be seen again He gets away with it She is a big girl now, almost finishing highschool She has a happy spirit She is a friendly girl, she has received a lot of help But she walks with a limp, a reminder of that tragedy. She opens the door for her older cousin, excited to see him She is watching the young and the restless, a show that she never misses the long afternoons as she waits for her KCPE results This cousin has been visiting daily, he leaves nearby anyway He advices her about highschool, he states that he will prepare her for it He mentions how crazy highschool is, he says that he thinks she is not ready for it A scene comes on the show where a couple kisses The cousin asks her if she knows how to kiss and she shyly says no He offers to teach her how too, he says "if you can take me to your bed, I can show you how too" At this point, she is very scared but she hides it She is afraid, her cousin is a strong tall guy and she wonders what may happen to her if she refuses She plays along, suggesting that he come another day, adding that her mum is about to get home So he decides to leave, but he comes the following day and so many days after But she never opens the door for him, never again alone with him even in adulthood. Little girls everywhere Monsters everywhere
