Poem
Just because it isn’t rape doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt Doesn’t mean you don’t have to relive every moment of it Doesn’t mean you don’t have to go through years of counselling Doesn’t mean you get to forget the horrible truth You never get to forget your only hope is to learn to live with it To face the pain, Put on a smile and show no emotion Let no one know Be strong when you really can’t be When you have fallen down and gotten up so many times that you just can’t do it anymore You don't know how it feels to live with the pain and memories every day of your life. You have no clue how it feels to have everyone who you thought cared about you turn their back on you, Toss you in the trash like you weren't human. I remember all this, I remember every single feeling, Every single touch he made, I remember it feeling like he was tearing me in half, As if I was a sheet of paper that was full of mistakes. As if I was just a kid he picked up off the street His own possession I wasn’t! I was a young girl full of curiosity But that all changed when I had my trust betrayed It has taken me 10 years to learn to trust people again 10 years to gain the strength to ask all the questions that were killing me slowly inside I bottle up my emotions I try so hard to not let them out I am not the only one I am not the only person who feels this way Every story is different Everyone has their own way of dealing with it. Some handle it better than others. We learn to be strong Fight the pain Live our lives as best as we can. That is all we can do, they have taken away part of our life A part of our life we will never get back For some they don’t remember it For others they can recall every detail 10 years after We fight ourselves everyday We became stronger people, for ourselves but also our families We are warriors!
