Poem
What happened to me when the full moon shone bright I seem to have lost the whole of the night I've no recollection of what did transpire but I feel that what happened was really quite dire When I awoke at the first light of dawn I found that my clothes were all tattered and torn Why is it I'm lying flat on the floor and why are there scratches all over the door There's blood on my clothes but I haven't a scratch and the back of my hands have a dark hairy patch Why do I feel so full and replete when all yesterday I had nothing to eat I've slept through the day and now I feel strong I feel a change coming before very long I feel that my time will be coming quite soon and then I will hunt by the light of the moon But why is that mob out there in the street and why, on my door, do they hammer and beat Why are they yelling, what have I done and why has he got that bloody great gun Why does the darkness descend upon me and why is this red mist all I can see What is this blood lust I seem to be getting when I look out the window and see the sun setting What is this itching I have on my face and why do hairs sprout all over the place Why do my teeth grow long in my jaws and my fingernails lengthen into sharp claws Do they not know that I can't be destroyed Stab me with knives and I'll just get annoyed I'll slash them and rend them and cast them aside They'll be running in terror when my jaws open wide Why does he stand there pointing that gun If he had any sense he'd turn round and run Why does my roaring not fill him with dread Does he not know I'm immune to hot lead So why do I feel this unbearable pain as he fires that gun again and again How could I have known that gun did contain those damn silver bullets that just entered my brain
