Poem
The Spanish moss hangs all over the bayou swamp Water is cold and damp The misty haze covers the air The alligator hunter is in his tiny boat in middle of nowhere Suddenly crocodiles surround his boat He has hard time to keep afloat He has fallen into the water that is damp In the middle of eerie swamp Road to the boat is through alligator jaws And sharp flesh tearing claws He swims in other direction And he finds refuge on the tree for protection Crocodiles surround the tree He can’t be there for infinity Time draws out like a blade He might starve leaving only memory which will fade But for a moment he is safe in the tree But he starts to wonder if to die here is his destiny Suddenly he hears heart stopping roar Something strange comes up from ground floor Half alligator half man Comes out of his skeleton filled den with a plan Parlangua climbs up the tree And there is no place for hunter to flee But he can jump to another tree From there to his boat and that how it turns out to be As he leaves bayou behind he will see Something that forever will be in his soul’s memory The skies turn into a vortex of red porcelain colored light If it wasn’t so frightening to an eye would be delight Thunder roars like someone was skinning live cat Supernatural storm above swamp reminds him of recent threat The trees whisper as they cast shadow created by moons’ light This is truly an eerie night The dream chemical of pure energy, the storm gives nightmare mass It is as real as you or I but Parlangua is nightmare of its own class
