The healthier we become the more ways we find to make ourselves sick Hypochondriac fits of politics Diet pills McDonalds Happy Meals Hypnagogic images make up the news Cumulus clouds full of debris from the local avenues Deeper eras believed to be found In the bottoms of bottles and in the classifieds of Magazines Prostituted ideas and sold out dreams Answers to warfare lie in choked pretzels and a man now swinging Swing Saddam from a lynching tree by the rose Bush Smells so sweet but even roses smell disgusting at times I don't support mass murders, but the American government does By covering up the eugenics attempt like it never happened Gays and minories and imperfects were lined up like dominos to fall America is always before it's time we beat Hitler in commiting inhuman crimes Bet the social studies teacher never taught that Students are too busy texting in class to realize that they are being fed lies People believe what is in textbooks Refusing to believe that anything is right for who determines what is right when we are all wrong I have so much to say, you don't want me to say it So I tape my mouth And write with my eyes wide shut Close the door and walk out Into a world of eternal clichés Love letters scrawled on the walls with a Sharpie Always speak to me like poetry I'm a stranger to myself often times though i don't think so Tie me to the kitchen sink and blast Some Talib Kweli in my ear Tell me I'm worthless and I'll fear Not even the worthless words cutting the air I'm strong, built to last 3 seasons Thats what it said on the box he bought me in Real Woman Minority Edition written in cursive letters Found in department stores everywhere Busty Blonds, bouncy brunettes, limited racy red Big eyes rounded thighs and a hollow head Exclusive sale lasts through Corporate holidays Curse the day I was born, real woman Hide the books and close the floodgate Of philosophies and opportunities Put on a pretty face and pretend To make amends I trust truly, love long and hate hard To make up for time lost in junkyards of the generic minded Fools of my generation I-pod eared and drug induced lives I'm tired of living a life not worth living, I'm worth something If I failed to get the message across Please nail my heart to a rock and toss It into a lake I could sink and stop somebody from falling into the chokehold of the already lost And take the path less traveled To save myself
