Poem
Another storm bringing the cold hard rain. We've planned and toiled just to wash it away. We've started a ditch to let water drain. All we could manage was to dig halfway. We put on coats and walked separate ways. Wherever we went, clouds split and they rained. We flooded the crops of neighbors and friends. We've left a path from our house to road's end. We joined back our clouds but the damage was done, making islands to cut off everyone. The more we tried not to, the more it would rain, making less space for islands to contain. Once solutions reached impossible highs, we got in our heads to blow up the sky. Little did we know the solution was one, to share our raincoat and pray for the sun. But we were young and knew even better. Go out with glory. Target the weather. With one final blow we could end the rain, but, along with it, the sun and it's rays. We couldn't remember things we would miss, Starry nights, clear bright skies, the sun's warm kiss. Even more so, the power of our love. The power that once harnessed skies above. Once we had our aim at the pitch black sky, I held her hand, and we started to cry. I hesitated, paused by sudden light. I wrapped her in my coat and held her tight. The moments that passed, turned black into grey. The clouds in the sky began to obey. The worst was over, the sea dried away, and the first of many sunny bright days.
