Poem
I know your face, Your familiar eyes, You pass by my window, Each morning rise. Your weary bones, Covered by clothes soaked from last night's cries. Each time I wanted to say hello, And ask if things are fine, But your sadness, Hidden by your brittle hair, Makes me forget my line. Through thin walls, I hear your silent fragility, And the monster who comes late at night, Who takes advantage of your vulnerability. My heart bellows, Your painful yelps echoes, Yet still I lay in bed, So many sorrows running through my head. I feel your stare, Your window eyes, Each morning rise. Ashamed of the clothes I'm in, Which hide my pain within, I hoped each day. You might have something to say, But I guess someone like me, Even a hello, Just cannot be. With just these walls between us, I press my hand upon, I would call your name if I knew, To get me out of this dungeon, From the monster who imprisons me. Will my reaching tears, Be loud enough to hear? A waling siren woke me, I peer through the window and see, A linen covered stretcher rolls pass, And I dared not to ask, Have I waited too long? And heard your final song. I walk out and to my surprise, Glancing at me are those same eyes, As they take you away, I felt you had something to say, But no words could leave your shivering lips, Like a ghost ship, Abandoned long ago, An empty vessel, Drained of life, Just a shell of a battered wife.
