Poem
There is no reason to surrender, no reason at all No reason to cry or regret after a rough fall Life may tough as rock and a straight upward wall Look at what you got, diamond is toughest of all Sometimes the thing we are trying change or leave The thing before our eyes we cannot see, for better Seems the light from fat away than that on the sleeve Sometimes it is so precious gold you wear as fetter And what of that dream you left behind, what of that trash You thought would only waste your mind, worthless To your craving mind that saw all things as immediate cash Fault not the dream, but how little work we did invest. Fault not the journey that to a dead end seemingly led The direction taken points to how well you prepared Trash can become new gold or building blocks instead For a palace, stairway, or vehicle where the vision dared Do not surrender, do not give up, dare still to try With one more blow the wall comes down, every leap The muscle strengthened, preparing you to leap the sky Dreams are work plans: without a tree no fruit we reap Stick to it, roll up the sleeves, set stages of goals, commit What we earn is the value of self, dividend from esteem You are not alone, there is always that strong unseen spirit He whose purpose is hidden in a rough diamond of dream Why should you surrender, others lesser did it all before And when you are quit and gone another will come still And find your failure withered beside an opening door And we will shake our head and scoff at such a fragile will Do not quit, surrender is a loser's option only for the dead Rework the plan, steel the heart, and go for that distant goal Each step brings it nearer, determination with vision wed Shall guarantee victory, guarantee honor, for you the bell will toll. Diamonds may look like common stone, and rainbow broken light Those who commit will often tire and feel they walk alone But if we do not surrender, winners who take the eagle's flight Will find a world to praise us, and rights to rest upon a throne.
