Poem
Little Bobby Brown was born with a frown and he didn’t know how to smile. He always looked sad, or as if he were mad, and never laughed, all the while. You could tickle him with a feather; Or make a joke about the weather; But his face was stuck in a frown. You could stand on your head; Or do flips on the bed; But his smile just stayed up-side-down. You could make faces and giggle; Or give him Jell-O that would wiggle; And still he wouldn’t crack a smile. You could smack a pie on your face; Or do a silly run-in-place; But you would be running for mile after mile. Little Bobby Brown was born with a frown, and his parents didn’t know what to do. Soon, they started crying; And they simply stopped trying; I would do the same, wouldn’t you? Then one day Bobby looked in a mirror; wiped it with his hand so he could see a little clearer; took a step closer so he would be little nearer; and put his fingers at the end of his frown. Although his frown was awful tight, He pulled with all his might, Because he didn’t like seeing his parents cry; He tugged at his mouth, Taking his lips north from south Trying just once to give a smile a try. When he got the right curve and a smile did occur, he felt really good all inside; Then he started to laugh at the face in the looking glass and he said, “I sure am glad that I tired”. Now little Bobby Brown hardly ever frowns and he laughs and he smiles all day; And his parents are glad that he is hardly ever mad and they hope that’s the way he will stay.
