Poem
Running on a few hours of sleep, I decide that this is a good time as any to empty out my thoughts tilt my head to the right and let everything flow out of my ear into a bucket *whoosh* just like that~ then pour everything down down d o w n the drain.... swirl, swish, swirl it goes, *glurg*, *glurg* and then a *hiccup!* What the heck is that? something got stuck and it just won’t go down? So I remove my glasses stare at the drain, look at it closely, and blink— a string?! I tug, tug, tug at it hard to free it and to push it down but hmm maybe I pulled too hard and that drain thingy goes flying -- >pop< *boink!*and hits me on the forehead! Figures! Ouchy! Then all of a sudden, it gets sucked down that vortex slurrrp……dragging me along~ I go through that canal, flailing arms & legs swimming (ok not really, more like sliding!) and I grasp at nothing and everything at the same time but my foot gets snagged on something and I get thrown smack, face down on mush! ewwwww this reminds me of baby food, which leads me to think of babies and umbilical cords Sure is weird that we come into this world attached to somebody but we are severed from it at the start although not really, because there are always, always ties that bind us whether we like or not, there is this ----S—t—r—i—n—g---- that connects us all together Infinite Strings …my brother comes to mind, since his business name had that phrase, it was an acronym – ISIP— which in Tagalog would mean “mind” or “think” now this got me thinking , of how this string is infinite, invincible, invisible that even if we try to cut it off, we just can’t… and I think that’s for the best… since it ties us down, to make sure that even if we’re afloat in this universe, seemingly detached we’re still grounded somewhat… yeah, the string might get tangled and the knots can be nightmares to untie but I guess that's what also makes life interesting and challenging somebody or something just needs to tug at it, take us back to reality and bring us to our senses People in our lives come and go, tugging at our heartstrings, stringing us along, or pulling us together always, the strings remain subtle reminders that we are all connected... I tie that string around my pinky finger now, happy I never let go and that it got stuck in the first place, refusing to go down that drain not lost to infinity, but infinitely staying with me...
