Poem
Since this heart has fallen One goal lay on my mind To be all I can be, for you And to prove my love in kind I carry you with me like a shadow Thoughts never wandering very far With every dawn this earth has won I wish to be right where you are Promises have been made before And through your past, many broken It breaks my heart to hear the pain In all the words you’ve left unspoken I know sometimes you catch me Staring at you, and I quickly turn Always wondering what you’re thinkin And if you can see how bright this fire burns The life I had before we met I don’t even want to think about And for the life of me I can’t recall How I ever did without My promises you will discover Are not like all the rest So before you start to dismiss them At least put me to the test I Promise I’ll rub the ache and pain away From the souls of your feet to your heart I’ll caress to calm frenzied nerves and anger Give reason for negativity to depart I’ll tell you how amazing you are I’ll tell you how happy you make me I’ll show you we are not all scum I’ll show you what wonderful can be I’ll wrap my arms around you Every possible chance that I get You are all I have ever needed Even when I didn’t know it yet I’ll kiss you with passion I’ll melt every time we touch This might sound like a lot But sometimes I feel it’s not enough I’ll catch my breath when you call And I’ll hate hanging up the line I’ll never want to say goodbye My fire burning brighter every time I’ll get butterflies when I see you My knees will tremble, I’ll smile And I’ll calmly keep myself composed My thoughts wandering to you all the while I’ll think of you each morning And each sleep as I close my eyes And you will flood my dreams each night Giving sunshine to my skies These are my promises to you The ones that I will speak aloud The rest remain unsaid for now But silently in my heart are vowed
