Poem
The silence was shattered by the sound of thunder, Your eyes were so red; I had to look the other way. They bled tears of pain and lightning shook my soul, Something happened on the way to scare you, For the first time, I though it would be good to be somewhere else. Flashbacks coming faster than a speeding train, We were looking for an answer to all those questions in your head. I turned and saw you laughing, but your face remained the same, Not looking for a modern day Jericho as you’re surrounded by the dead. For the first time, I though it would be good to be somewhere else. I saw a vision smiling when all around was sad, She walked and the whole world followed, never looking back. I tried to grab her hand but in an instance she was gone, Is this a sign that we must find the crossroads on our own? For the first time, I thought I want to be somewhere else. The sky opened up again just as we started to walk away, But I realised that I was alone, but two shadows were looking at me. I reached out to save the world but it was only a falling star, I heard a million hearts all beating at once and thought, For the first time, I though it would be good to be somewhere else. The world is getting smaller, but the distance we travel is longer, We are growing weaker by the minute but our hearts getting stronger. If we stop to dream, do we lose the will to live? How could I stand and stare so much and not see the sign, For the first time, I thought I want to be somewhere else. I saw a stranger walking my way, pointing towards the light, I looked and saw it disappear, long into the night. Two black cats stopped in front of me, but were they really there? Frozen in time, yet we climb the walls just to see them die. For the first time, I thought I want to be somewhere else. What if you were the last person alive or the last to pass this way? Could your shoulders bear the burden and would you really stay? So many dark clouds up ahead and the sound of thunder cries, Now that the world is a dark one, who listens to all these lies? For the first time, I though it would be good to be someone else. The thunder drifts away and the sun breaks through the sky, As your eyes look up and watches the first birds fly by. Your soul takes a walk and you watch it slowly disappear, And everyone agrees that you are back to start another year. For the first time, I thought I don’t want to be someone else.
