Saviour Some people have met their saviour Some may have been lucky enough To have met many He was an old man or an old lady Or a child, maybe Who gave of them some timely advice Or by demonstration showed you another path Not exactly, a person of faith But a person of, spiritual guidance Who may come in their own time With their own small piece of deliverance But a saviour will always, in some way Sacrifice their own heart The lesson you need May have been hard for them to learn Saviours come in many guises But salvation is something you have to accept And realise it might not be What you would have wanted But saved you are; none the less And to the lonely world has come The lover you dreamed of But will never have the courage to partake of Still this saviour comes The reflection of all your wishing Though you will never follow The voice of your escaping Still you are shown the way And you will cling to the thread An ounce of meaning Your desperation is for hope Offered up to a pointless life Some body loves you, cares for you Enough to burn with you And lay with you In the empty night Suffer the game with you, play it for you Die each day next to you But the dreams of saviours Are always ignored But a saviour will always, in some way Sacrifice their own heart The lesson you need May have been hard for them to learn
