Poem
Headstrong, with an ageless broken heart, I erased the memories of childhood, And painted them back in frail colors, blushing pinks, Pastels like jewels fading from my trembling fingers, Imagining a dream where there had only been fantasies, Brilliant fantasies peppered with light, Graceful and bright – like Christmas glistening In the heart, a spirit pulsating, pure and dazzling Away the darkness with its own blend of heartfelt. Impulsive, I often clung to the meaning of the word, While the importance of the said word blew me kisses, And the wind moved, gusting the broken thoughts, So everywhere, there is a reckless light, Soft and broken, unspoken and spontaneous, Like the imagination who never fears and is always aware, Wherever there is a fancy, there is creativity, Ingenuity, a stirring of the stars at dusk, Emotions captured by the brisk December curves, Churning and dancing, laughing at the brisk season, Spicy and clever, marking forever. Stubborn, with darkness surfacing on the corners, Shadowy and silent – imagining the poetry, Broken by the betrayals of dreams, blocking the music, Melodies of laughter and grace, Blessings who wither beneath the hesitant gaze, Winter feeds each dread, revealing each secret, Melancholic and forlorn, Lacking the hope needed to reach out, Through the steely gray doubt, Into the wonder, the nostalgia, the elegiac, Where a star glistens, Promising that – yes, oh yes… Despite the tenacious and mulish Blending of wills who can’t seem to see, The whisper for the scream, The softest raindrop, like dew… Shimmering and silent, because there is a storm, Brewing in the stillness, the hush…. When the will is like a lesson, Forever teaching, always coaching, Memorizing the moments When stalwart night chose to bleed Into the dawn, Beckoning to the shadows, A delicate lesson… burning in the windows, Where light longs to glow, embracing the soul… There, in the pane (the pain) bids farewell To the wistful yearning, the burning A spirit who changes from immovable, adjusting Its gaze from the darkness, to see into the light, Burning out the night with a reflection of what it means… To love unconditionally, freely, meekly – With love that can only be inspired by a Savior Who bled and died so we could let go of our will, And, hear the beauty in His promise… Redeeming our souls from unending darkness, Rescuing our hearts from eternal blindness. Saving us from the torment meant to punish… While the punishment comes from knowing, Our sins nailed Him to that cross – Our sins killed our only hope, Our sins, though, were washed away… By the blood that was shed that day!
