"Too often we don't treasure the value of a moment until it's becomes a memory." ~ by poet In a melancholy moment I painted a sad portrait of me, wading along the shoreline, alone and lost in a memory. It was of the day I drove away, our tears falling as I recall, mine spilling when I heard Adele's 'We Could've Had it All.' I'd tumbled from the ledge and ended up in freefall. I felt deep sorrow when those memories washed over me. Maybe it's why I painted myself on the edge of the sea. My anger was over, so no waves were roaring and crashing, just ripples nipping at my ankles; aware of water splashing, my thoughts were focused on old conversations... rehashing. Overhead I painted shadows, perhaps a storm was brewing in a moment like many when I wondered how you were doing. I missed our walks together when you always held my hand, and a second set of footprints next to mine on the sand. I thought about the drawer that held my wedding band. Eleven years and not a single word between us did we share, so, the sound of your timbered voice caught me unaware. A few awkward moments listening to what you had to say before I was trembling. I didn't know I'd still feel that way. I felt a flame ignite inside of me that I couldn't quite allay An hour spent reminiscing about the good times and the bad, and I was drawn close to you, not quite what we once had, but we recaptured tender moments when we had confessed that our bond of love was stronger than we'd ever expressed. It was a moment of discovery, we no longer kept suppressed.
