Poem
"I am everywhere, I am nowhere, a shadow unchained and unleashed. The world made me this way, so let the world suffer." Quote by Mystique Mystique (Raven Darkholme) is a complex fictional Marvel Comic character. She is of a subspecies of humanity called mutants. It is said that she is 100 years old. Her origins are unknown, but her powerful abilities manifested when she was 12 years old. One of her abilities is to shapeshift and she does this perfectly. She can take any form, man, woman, child, maybe even cats and dogs. Her true appearance is blue skin, red hair, and yellow eyes. She is both Supervillain and Anti-Heroine Besides, the ability to shapeshift she has other abilities like enhanced strength, speed, agility, and reflexes, and accelerated healing, slow aging, and is skilled in martial arts and guns. After a brief affair with Victor Creed (Sabretooth) the result was the birth of a child, Graydon Creed. Not mutant! Mystique abandoned him and he grew up hating mutants forming a group called Friends of Humanity. He also became a popular politician until he was assassinated by Mystique or so it is suspected. How could she murder her own son? Later, Mystique seduces Azazel, ruler of the Island of Demons. He is immortal. After this one night encounter Nightcrawler is born. He is a mutant with black hair, yellow eyes, blue skin and a pointed tail. Mystique abandons him also and he is found and raised by the sorceress Marigal. For some reason, Mystique adopts a 14 year old girl wandering a forest with a gun, trusting no one. Mystique gains her trust and takes her in and becomes very protective of her. Rogue has the power to absorb the memories, personality, skills and powers of all she touches sometimes it is permanent. Mystique in time relinquishes her guardianship of Rogue. Mystique, met, fell in love and married Irene Adler (Destiny). She called her, wife! Did she take the form of a man for this marriage or be herself, very controversial for Marvel comics, so it was played down. But, together Mystique and Destiny fought many battles until Destiny died. Her death impacted and scarred Mystique's life, filling her with more hate. Mystic is affiliated with many groups through out Marvel Comic stories, like, X-Men, Avengers, Marauders, X-Corps, X-Factor, Lethal Legion, the Hellfire Club, Wolverines, S.H.I.E.L.D. and many more. She has used many alias to infiltrate, bring down, and seduce. There is so much to the story of Mystique that this poem could go on forever, so I will end here But, maybe think about this, Mystique can take any form man or woman. She/he could be that person walking past you on the street, sitting beside you on the bus, or at the coffee shop. Another person in the bookstore, the grocery store, the museum, art gallery. Anywhere, everywhere in any form! _____________________ March 17, 2023 Poetry/Prose Poetry/Mystique- A Biography Copyright Protected, ID 03-1532-125-17 All Rights Reserved, 2023, Constance La France Written for the Premier contest, Marvel Supervillain sponsor, Robert James Liguori, Judged 03/17/2023 First Place
