Poem
Before I start cleaning the kitchen tonight, I think we should talk and avoid a dumb fight. What would we fight about? Everything’s great! Especially after that dinner we ate! That’s kinda the point here, I’m really still trying to keep us together but let’s stop the lying. “Stop with the lying”? What does that mean? Are you seeing something that I haven’t seen? I’ve seen more people are starting to die! All for this dude Donald Trump and his lies! Well, he is still saying the election was stolen! We thought it was true so we kept the ball rollin! We thought a recount would show us the truth but it’s been a long time and we still have no proof! Well, everyone knows that the courts wouldn’t hear us and if we are so wrong than why do they fear us? They fear us for waving our guns in their face, willing to kill for a political race. I think it’s our duty to stand by our man. To fully support him and do all we can. That’s not the pledge of allegiance we know! The whole thing’s a lie and it’s time to let go! I’m just defending what I thought was right and sometimes you gotta be ready to fight If risking your life’s what your willing to do, wouldn’t you at least want your cause to be true? But there’s so many people that’s still standing strong How in the world could so many be wrong? Everyone knows now this whole thing is through, now it’s just pride telling them what to do. Well I’m not gonna tell anyone I was wrong, the sneering and jeering has gone on too long. So we stick to our guns and keep up this charade? We need to clean up the mess that we made! That’s a real problem so what are you saying, now we’ll just tell people we were just playing? NO! We’re gonna tell people the God’s honest truth, that we were all victims of Donald Trumps coup. You think we can get folks to listen to that? Everyone’s pissed, they say war’s where it’s at! And if it’s too late and we all pick a side? More people keep dying, and THEN say he lied? Then it’s too late and changes begin that effect all of us and the world we live in. We all know the truth here and I can’t be part of tearing the whole damn country apart! It does feel different now knowing he lied, but it feels so much bigger than just one man’s pride. He said what he said so we are where we are. Without us, he’d never have gotten this far. That’s why we’re the victims, We're playing his game! What works for him works for us just the same. So we take down the flag and if anyone asks we tell ‘em we’re just getting tired of all that? We all know that people talk, we’ll lose a friend or two, but that’ll never mean as much as losing me and you. I think there’s more that feel like this than they care to confess. We’ll just talk about how we feel with a little bit of finesse. You know he’s all they talk about, it’s like he runs our lives. Every place and social space still buzzing like a hive. Then let’s just not participate and learn to walk away. People are ready to let this die, more and more each day. Tomorrow let’s go on a date instead of that stupid meeting. Take a break from the same old crap we’re constantly texting and tweeting. We’ll get new candles, some smokes and some food, let all this crap go and get in the mood I’m pretty sure I could cotton to that! As a matter of fact, I could use a new hat! ~Jeannie Cronin
