Poem
I made myself some promises the last time you broke my heart I made myself some promises when you tore my world apart I told myself I was done, I told myself we’re through But every time I see your face I go running back to you I made myself some promises that I’d be a stronger man I told myself you’re evil not to give in to your plan I told myself to walk away that loving you was a sin But every time you call my name I falter once again My heart begins to quiver at the mention of your name I know in my heart and soul I’m the one to blame I act like everything is well- that things will be just fine Yet spend the hours of my day still wishing you were mine I think of you and call your name 1000 times a day I know the love I have for you will NEVER fade away I understand you question this so let me tell you why There was a time when I saw myself as just another guy I felt I was unworthy - that no one cared at all But then you came into my life and got me standing tall You showed me I was worthy to be loved by one like you You restored my faith, believed in me and gave me life anew I alone know the truth of what you did for me You opened up my heart and set my spirit free My head is up and I’m smiling as I walk now with such pride Remembering how you kissed my lips and walked here at my side You see it made a difference to be loved so much by you I know you know I loved you and I know you loved me too But now the time has come we must go our separate ways We can’t go on pretending these aren’t our final days It doesn’t mean I don’t love you because I know I always will I love you in totality and today I feel it still How can I ever thank you for the love you sent my way How can I forgive you for the pain you’ve made me pay You changed my world you shook it hard- you turned it upside down You strutted by while knowing I could see right through your gown To kiss your lips to hold you close my heart did race so fast So often I am I questioning why could our time not last Yes........ I am intoxicated and forever bound with the magic of you...my muse. .....my true Love ......and......I wish things could have been........forever. Thus my prayer — This be but “ so-long “ For I will always love you .... .............Always.........
