Poem
For You (Bianka’s song) Some loving things You said I will never ever forget. How, with a word or a glance You could shoo me right out of my head. The precious moments as we danced, Your hands so fine, resting in mine, Fingers barely touching, Yet gently intertwine. The silk of your hair Caressing my face, Two birds together flying, In a timeless place. At peace in the mystery In a safe and sacred space, I could meet You in the strength Of your Feminine Grace. Our hearts beating, like an ancient drum Our bodies melt as we embrace, As we often became one. Struggling to fit the breadth of your Love Into a word or a sentence, Is like trying to capture A butterfly’s essence. You’re an open book, not easy to read, But no masks or pretence I often didn’t know how, To protect your rare innocence Even now. And your Mother and care-less Father Still blind and deaf to your needs They will never know your treasures And how easily You bleed. Your enduring beauty Still takes my breath away You just seem to ripen and mature Day after day, Even as the laugh-lines deepen And your hair has tinges of grey. You’re stronger than almost anyone I know Even as You’re so Slender, gentle and mysterious, although Only for those with hearts that feel and eyes that see Because sensitivity, is hard for You to show: But You find your peace in the Earth and trees, And your child laughing in the snow. You’re intelligent but not vain or clever And are kind, caring and wise But I have never Seen any meanness in your eyes. But You don’t let anyone put You down Or even compromise You’re a simple Queen With the heart of a Lioness Yet graceful and serene Ferociously fighting for the ones who are homeless Who are scared, lost and unseen With lives in a mess And only You, fearless enough to intervene. Finally the cracks have become so deep And way too many to mend. The bridges lost and walls too steep And we cannot lie or pretend. So although our road together Has finally come to an end, In my heart, There’s a special place For You my special friend. Nothing is wasted or lost And I will always be grateful to You How You changed my life forever You came out of the mist and the rain Just as I thought that Love would never, ever Visit me again. © Sangeet Portalski – October 2021
