Poem
When looking into the mind's mirror All that's found is fear there Peering into that dark place Not recognizing the face Lurking there's the daemon, the monster Yet some still see what they once were Standing way off on a distant shore This is no madness, insanity, possession A brain crawling with bugs It is a sadness, anxiety, depression Someone's pulled out all of the rugs Constant gnawing obsession A dog on your pants leg that tugs and tugs Paranoia most incessant No matter how many shots and mugs They say its genetic But you still feel pathetic Full of disdain Emotional pain Or maybe just apathetic... The monster will rage Or choke you from within Yet it's not the wage Exacted for sin Though the monster is quiye emphatic Do you not see the spiritless shell? The ghost without a grave entombed In purgatory, neither heaven or hell No resting place, unsaved and doomed Body paralyzed, brain numb A zombie deaf, blind and dumb Do you think me mad? Though I say I am not Still the puns are bad When they take the shot 21st century schizoid maniac? Wacko, nutso, psycho? A few bricks short of a load? Not playing with a full deck? Over the rainbow? Toys in the attic? Not with it, not all there? Teddy, the bipolar bear...? Hmmmmm... Hahahahaha... You tell them it's clinical And they get all cynical The ignorant wit their taunts With there asinine, senseless advice They don't believe in the monster that haunts Their own tiny little minds Get a hold of yourself, get a grip You wish it was that easy to get ahold of it. It's just the "blues", it'll pass Yeah, it's the "blues" my ass! You'll feel better tomorrow "Tomorrow" never comes for this kind of sorrow What you need is a "good" time So you fill yourself with liquor, beer and wine Half kill yourself to still the fear in your mind When you wake up and find your not dead The monster's dancing a jig in your head! Family and friends, help is not there Not that hey may not or do not care They may try to guide In the guise of the "wise" With continual cries Of "How are you feeling today?" And the most annoying, "Are you okay?" They refuse to realize That they're probably part of the issue And just making it worse for you! Medication's the real deal Therapy and time to heal So speak no words of comfort you cannot give Try not to understand what you do not live Give me distance and latitude to survive Forgive my attitude and grant me time You cannot help me, do not try I must master the monster mine
