I read on the internet you can't blame your parents you can't blame the Government your choices make your life Granted I agree with part of that but I believe that Governments, society, parents and the child all carry a percentage of responsibility Back in the sixty's our parents could go out and leave their back doors unlocked yet watching the movie Oliver Twist That was not the case back in history so what were our parents doing right that todays society is now doing wrong what can we learn from the past I think that the most important lesson is that children learn best from adults they respect I remember growing up was different The bobby on the street was more likely to know your parents if he caught you down the street vandalising property he was more likely to kick your bum take you home and tell your parents what you had done mum and dad would deliver the appropriate punishment Yet in todays world if children run away authorities are more likely to step in and take the child away I tried looking after some street kids but how do you know what is the truth Grant said his mother was an alcoholic that he got into a fight with her and ran away yet later I found out part of the truth Grant was told by the school authorities Government representatives that he was entitled to the youth allowance so going home he got into an argument with his mother demanding she sign papers getting him the youth allowance but to do that reduced her benefit the money used to pay rent, buy food he got into an argument and ran away kids tell lies to get what they want another mother had an argument With her daughter her daughter threatened to call the authorities the mother gave her the phone the Authorities stepped in the child was put into foster care once in foster care the child climbed out the window and ran away meeting up a gang getting onto drugs now with a drug habit she grew up to become a parent meet up with a man who had an alcohol problem their child lived watching parents fight year after year learning how to fight to say that parents and Governments don't have an affect on child development is just not the truth how many children die in wars how many children suffer from abuse how many parents are just to soft allowing their children to rule the house in todays world police do not support parents the child's rights come first but sometimes good parents need to discipline a naughty child sometimes we all need help
