Poem
I am worthy of love and I am deserving of it too, not that you cared about this, I was of no concern to you My name states it there in black and white, how could you just throw me to the side as though I was never a part of your life? I am a person, I have feelings too, but I guess that when you yourself have none you think of others the same as you But I wanted to love you in the way that I wanted to be loved, I wanted to show you that you were worthy too, but it was just not enough There was no changing you, there was no way that I could make you see, that what I wanted to give to you would have been all that you would ever need You acted as though you wanted this gift, that you wanted my heart, but then like the coward you are you couldn’t finish what you had once started So, I realized that I am worthy of love, but first I must love me, because to give someone else what I expect I first must see What love truly feels like and you only find this within yourself deep inside, and then when you’re ready you can share this treasure with another for the rest of your life I thought that you were the one that I would give this to, but as it turns out from the beginning you knew what you were going to do You knew that you would never let me love you and that you could never genuinely love me, you only wanted to pretend things were different, that you could live in this fantasy And for awhile it worked, we both escaped all the pain, but nothing lasts forever, and something had to change So, you decided that you would be the one, that you would turn around and walk away and like a coward you would run You were searching for something that I just couldn’t give to you, and to this day I wonder if you found it? That dream that you longed to come true So, I hope that you open up one day to someone, somewhere out there, and that you learn to love yourself first so that for them you can care I hope that as me you find the happiness in the sad, and I hope that you can find your self-worth and be a good man But I know now I am worthy, I know that I am enough, I don’t need you to love me to see that now that our story is done.
