Poem
Blood spilling in the east running all the way to the west Forming rivers of doubt in the north and South An army of men converge along the river bank With long guns strapped to their sides And big army bags parachuting from their backs They are waiting for the sun to go down, Before they complete the second round Tall and slender men with clean shaved faces Looking mean and grim stared blankly across the horizon Anticipating the next chapter of the journey The general crawl out of his sleazy makes shift barracks And inspect the soldier’s shoes and their worn-out uniform He pats the lieutenant on his back with a miserable slap In a deep and grouchy voice he uttered, “I am going to get you some new supply soon, But for now you have to be contented with what you’ve got.” The evening began to bear down on the men As they get ready to face their opponents The men took a sip from their water bottle Then load the jeep and drive up the steep hill With anxiety in their heart and hope in their hands Their jeep journey along the winding and slender road With no one insight they took control of the moment They journey all night over hills, through thick bushes Cutting and clearing the shrubs as they make their way They journey through rough terrain looking carefully for the enemy. On the other side of the mountain the rebels are waiting patiently for the battle to begin, They mow down the peasant’s farm and enter the land The barrel of the gun echoed across the village Shaking the trees and boring holes in containers Big machine guns on tankers roll through the Peasant village scaring the animals and everyone, The rebels run thorough the village like mad men and grabbed the peasants prized animals And rape their women and beat the children Unkempt men with smelly beard And big red eyes looking insane and wild exposing mean tattoos all over their bodies They kick over the villager’s pot and steal all what they have got The chief among them held his gun up in the air and spray bullets everywhere making a big mine all around Dead bodies lying on the ground With bullet wounds that are profound Blood soaked the earth with the peasant’s blood And a farmer writhing in pain His bodies float in a little pool around the cornfield And on the other side of the village a man lie with his face down buried in the earth And his wife stood over him weeping While the village children looked on in dismay It is very difficult for them to process everything A few meters down a helpless man lies bleeding in a pool of blood Reaching towards the middle of the road Ashes and debris littered the streets And the villagers are running frantically about with a helpless shout It all began in the middle of the night when the rebels got intoxicated on whiskey and high on white powder They turned the entire village upside down and no one could be found The rebels load up in their truck and took refuge on the other side of the mountain and rested underneath a big tree They lit a big fire to have their supper. But while they were gallivanting around The soldiers landed and attacked the rebels Bullets whistled in the air, land in guts head and trees Bullets rain like water coming down from the sky Puncturing the concrete trees and boring hole in head of bad men An ocean of blood settled under the tree And the soldiers have finally signed their decree Dead rebels spread out on the ground Headless bodies, severed arms and legs Scattered underneath the trees and Blood of bad men water the land with a Power that was greater than man Blood is flowing in the river.
