Poem
It’s okay when I die. When death reaches out and takes hold of me, my soul shall leave behind an empty shell and that’s okay with me! It won’t be me you look upon. No, it won’t be me, only a shell. No movement, no breath for death will stop my beating heart. I’m not in a hurry but will gladly go for nothing here holds my soul. I’ve known pain, sorrow and happiness too. I do not want to be revived or have lifesaving measures to keep me alive. No poking, no prodding, no nodding allowed. My life once was, will become departed. Nothing you have gained, and nothing have you lost. People came into my life and then departed. So, as death come’s looking for me, I’ll look toward the small white light that grows into, “an amazing light”. A kaleidoscope so mesmerizing it becomes hypnotizing. The kaleidoscope beautiful and bright will guide my soul as it takes flight. If you’re by my side, if you watch me go, you may get a glimpse of colors so bright. Both day and night colors abound, will light my way and I won’t make a sound. Don’t be sad, please be glad for when my soul becomes departed never should you be broken hearted. If you aren’t by my side and know not when I leave, don’t worry or care for there will be colors in the air. Peaceful and calm I’ll go hand in hand, toward the light ever so bright. Don’t ever grieve because I take my leave! Be happy, be glad for together we were the perfect reason in every season. Be grateful, be glad, just don’t be sad. Debbie Knapp 12/04/2019
