Poem
I once knew a man Who told of a time Long Before Electricity Long Before mine He spoke of the distance We've come in so few steps From media to technology Our mark is forever left He spoke of seeing it all As I listened in awe The change of the century And it's every flaw For years I listened close Hanging on his every word Through the simplicity of the early days Into the extremes that had occured How he listened to the radio Into the truth behind the lies He'd been there and seen that Decade after decade as it untied Not until the moment of my existence Did he bother to look back and reflect And in the years that followed I heard of all he'd done and regret I once knew a man Who'd spoke of mistakes And with tears in his eyes His torment gave face The mark they had left He would beg to be undone And through his dying days He admired the only setting sun Counting down the moments And taking me through his past All of his hopes and ambition Finally catching him at last His dying words he left with me: "To live each day and be happy alive" And he left me there I but 15, while he was 95 Then I closed my eyes And woke up 15 years late Life on a new level And I on a different length The cross roads are coming Yet I know not where to look I find myself in constant reflect At all that my time has took
