Poem
Twelve O'clock midnight the road was long and dark I saw a woman walking and threw my car in park I was pressed for time as two people did await Truck broke down miles ahead beside the interstate The woman, happy I had stopped, was five months with child Her hubby turned her out to walk like an animal in the wild On my journey she would have gone and I'd take her home from there But the pains struck in her womb and that thought I couldn't bare To lie down and get some rest was all she cared to do So I turned around and started back the extra miles were few We talked all along the way as on her cell she tried to call Those crazy things are worthless when you need them most of all I told her not to worry I would drive her all the way To let her out just anywhere ...I wouldn't sleep another day She kept calling me an angel as she laid her hand on mine She worried more about those in wait but I told her all was fine I pulled into the driveway and she thanked me once again Gave me the biggest hug and I couldn't help but grin I felt so good inside knowing she was safe and warm I'll never forget my stranger friend and wish her free from harm
