Emily and Desiderata

by Team Poetrysoup

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Emily who loved to read. She spent most of her free time in the library, surrounded by books of all kinds. One day, as she was browsing through the shelves, she came across a poem titled "Desiderata." Intrigued by the unfamiliar word, she decided to check it out.

As Emily researched this strange word, she discovered that "Desiderata" was a Latin word that meant "things that are desired." Upon reading the poem, she realized that it offered advice on how to live a fulfilling life, with each piece emphasizing the importance of kindness, respect, and acceptance.

Emily was deeply moved by the wisdom and insight in the poem, and she vowed to live her life according to its teachings. She began to treat others with more compassion and understanding, and she made an effort to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world around her.

Years later, Emily grew into a kind and thoughtful woman loved and respected by everyone who knew her. Whenever she encountered someone struggling or needing guidance, she would share the lessons she had learned from "Desiderata," helping them find their path to happiness and fulfillment.

And so, the word "Desiderata" became more than just a definition to Emily. It was a symbol of hope, a reminder always to strive to be the best version of oneself and a testament to the power of words to inspire and transform.
