A foot alone
tries the water that ocean lays,
A foot alone
on sand placed within God's tears moan;
still the spray imprints on my face —
forgiving this tide that won't stay,
A foot alone
I ventured to the shore of a foreign land,
whose beach was filled with a ton of sand.
Peering through thick pea soup fog,
I saw a ribbon on a cardboard dog.
It was just another day,
for Admiral Bowser Rondelet.
Come be merry
on the streets of the French quarter.
Come be merry,
plum liqueur and praline whiskey.
We’re the oldest brick and mortar,
drink and have an appetizer.
Come be merry.
One eye hits shut,
an invitation for mishaps.
One eye hits shut,
a feeling wakes within your gut.
Sunshine has stolen thunder’s claps,
in the realm of afternoon naps.
One eye hits shut.
The world’s applause
After climbing the highest peak,
The world’s applause;
It is victory’s cause, because
The eagle knows of which I speak,
Love grants an alluvial creek;
The world’s applause
Ronda’s a town,
but this rondelet rankles still:
Ronda’s a town
(a placename is a Proper Noun).
Between Malaga and Seville,
you’ll hear the very sparrows trill,
Ronda’s a town.
Ronda exists,
But does ‘rondelet’ rhyme with ‘hay’?
(Ronda exists:
I’ve wandered in its morning mists!)
Or does it, maybe, rhyme with ‘debt’?
It makes a poem hard to set!
Ronda exists.
Ronda’s my home.
Unlike phantom poetic forms,
Ronda’s my home.
Enough of frothy wordy foam!
I’ll stick to things that I can touch.
And I love Ronda very much.
Ronda’s my home.
Soft summer nights,
viral city from dusk to dawn;
Soft summer nights,
making the most of all those lights;
Easily now a willing pawn
once all the curtains have been drawn;
Soft summer nights.
Flowers and sex,
they bloom with natural instinct;
Flowers and sex,
pops of passion come off complex;
Perfume delicately distinct
with carnal scent forever inked;
Flowers and sex.
I must confess
I want to just lose these high heels;
I must confess,
I’m confined by this satin dress;
Hear you ignore all these appeals,
I’ve got to know just how that feels;
I must confess …
I feel restless,
my heart’s filled with touring notions;
I feel restless;
Longing not just to decompress,
my soul demands wild excursions;
Do you wanna cross the oceans?
I feel restless.
Bring it right now,
I’m willing and able to sweat;
Bring it right now;
Always push the limit I vow,
rolling without a safety net;
I am ready for a reset,
bring it right now!
I always try,
maybe a bit more than I should;
I always try,
and the Universe asked me why;
So I know I did what I could;
Even if it’s misunderstood?
I always try.
Rings of Saturn
glowing light from three years away;
Rings of Saturn,
they dance for every Capricorn;
Built tough for a wintery day,
grit a daunting cosmic display;
Rings of Saturn.
Leftover dreams
aimless look for resolution;
Leftover dreams
flicker with technicolor streams;
Salvation perhaps destruction,
they beg now for absolution;
Leftover dreams.
A pre planned slap,
when the beast breaks the chains beware;
A pre planned slap,
deeper wound falling for a trap;
It’s the charge you feel in the air
with sharpened nails it will ensnare;
A pre planned slap.
