Quills Poems

Premium MemberBattle of the Quills

Deep in the forest, where gnarly trees grow
There's a kingdom called Poetry, where verses never cease to flow
Anyone could challenge for the throne who had poetic skill
Then would begin the battle, the battle of the quills!

The king was challenged for the throne by a poet named Will
 The king weaved

The Velvet Touched Feathered Quills of Mysterious Books

"The Velvet Touched Feathered Quills of Mysterious Books"

Escape arrives easily
when everything’s ugly
deep diving into the swelling
pursed lips of smooth purring magi
seen naked in the skinny dipped
honeyed pools of pausing poetry
kissing the tongues
of mysterious books
tracing fingers
over their soft
flimsy pages
their velvet touched
feathered quills hooked
removing covers slowly
imprinting new movements
like scoring symphonies
Escape arrives

Quills

“Quills”

he sent
paper planes over
air waves

dodging
silver bullet’s brain
some kind of feathery love

poetic sword
plucking at
the tight-stitched up

like John Donne
unlacing amuse
voluptuous

for that harmonious chime

as soon as this latest plague is over
and the riots dampen a bit,
the gentle muse can be coaxed from
the leper's mask and rubble,
to pick up the quill and start scribing
about frogs-flowers and fawns
or maybe It'll be inspired by a goose
that offered it's feather for the cause-

Premium MemberQuills of Destruction

It all begins in the darkest part of our empty souls.
When we realize we won't or can't possibly reach our goal.

We gnash out bloodied teeth, crying to a crimson sky,
Lashing out..... "Why, why, why?"

So we bring out our heavy clubs and our iron chains.
And just like Nazis kill people with our words and ignorant
quills and propagandized brains.

There's

The God's Bookshelf

The poets are the quills of God. The quills
write down the masterpieces that cause chills
along the spine, goosebumps, tears of the pleasure
in godly rhymes that feed into the treasure
of poetry. The quills write down as well
the platitudes, the clichés that, to tell
the truth, are different on spelling only.
The countless graphomaniacs and the lonely
true poets who,

Pointless Quills

What of humor’s quick and barbed defense
so thrilled me in its parry-thrust dismay
hid me beneath its thicket dense
a demon come to curse – not pray

used me as the sword of anger’s wrath
poison spittle foaming on my tongue
slashing at the shadows of my past
a warrior commissioned much too young.

Loneliness – cold comforts fearful ruse
recoiling
