Sunshine and Shadows
Life, a story of sunshine and shadows
tears and tidings
joy moments so rare of priceless value
surged into being with the ringing of a bell or the sounding
of a word
a terminal saga of gladness and sadness,
the noiseless laugh, never to be heard.
Like a day of inconsistent sun and drizzle,
smoke bosoms from black tar
the moist seasoning of a blessing drying up
leaving mostly parched ground
on which to watch the coming of a mixed fate
fade in and out of light that doesn’t last.
Turning and twisting in the turgid waters
we move, agile, between antithesis
frown and favor
glory and shame.
With infant fallibility,
we conquer the current to an impartial shore
ever grateful for the restful hours
to playfully balance between sunshine and shadows.
