Congratulations, dear poetess, for your placement in this poetry contest with a poem written from the depth of the heart, reminding that wealth does not always bring happiness and bliss, which lie within us and not outside. Wish that divine light illuminates your path.

Congrats, Linda! I appreciated your perspective here and its irony. There can be no real home or family without love. Love is as precious a commodity as all the finest materials in life combined. Blessings from Barbados ~ TL.

Nicely written! I wonder if that kind of royal upbringing explains some of the knife stabbing and head chopping in royal families.

I do too Dave. I've heard tales but can't begin to imagine what secrets, if any, lie within. You may be correct about the royal head choppings. LOL See ya! :)

I can imagine those who are born to wealth sometimes feel this way, but of course, I would not know just only imagine. This one reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Thanks for sharing. Sara K

Dear Linda, I liked how you captured the paradox of privilege and emotional deprivation. Especially the imagery of "cold comfort" and "tacky satin ribbons" beautifully contrasts the outward appearance of wealth with inner emptiness. Linda, your portrayal of a child born into prominence yet lacking genuine affection is heart-wrenching. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Hello dear Darlene De Beaulieu. Actually, I was intending purple as royalty, children born to royalty. February is good too...my mother was Aquarian (I am Virgo). I hope your evening goes well. :)
