Self-Existent Light
God knows
I’ve tried
To put it out
Doused it, stepped on it
Locked it in a dark place
Denied its shadow
Surrounded it
With mirrors
To blind its “self”.
And yet it shines
Screaming
Through the cracks
Of a timeless tomb
Whispering in the silence
Of denial’s din
And still I flee
The essence of
This “self-existent light”
