Sandbags Pray for Hurricane Victims of Florida
We are hunkered down again
as we watch the land cry
evacuation gathering medication
pets helping others as neighbors
become first responders helping
others checking on elderly residents
rather Charlie Lisa Francis Hugo
dean Katrina Irma Maria Ian Helene
now Milton debris clean up power
outage floods we continue helping
others rebuilding communities
who are we why we are Floridians
facing hurricanes devastated yes
filled with compassion and faith
prayers and more prayers steadfast
filling sandbags to prevent flood
damage as this new monster brews
the Gulf of Mexico the Caribbean
and into coastal waters hitting land
wild animals scurrying about wind
ripping boards glass crashing vehicles
stalled out pile ups of people evacuating
the state many looking for shelter
many trying to reach families
or unknown lands on higher ground
many stay and ride out the storm
coast guards national guards Fema
Red Cross on land and a sea pray
for our first responders schools
churches open doors food banks
supplies feeding Tampa bay
metropolitan ministries American
legions we come together over the
state of Florida bringing security
safety comfort warmth from the storm
although we haven’t seen a storm
like this for one hundred years colorful
spaghetti strings covers the screen
following the the storm’s pathways
finally the eye of the storm emerges
for category strength rather five four
three two one we remain pent up palm
trees sway cypress trees crack boats
are abandoned pets scurry fort Myers
beach embraces the wrath what about
Disney Busch Gardens the animals
amazing first responders team while
Mickey Mouse ears abode Miami fill
in sink holes watching over beach
front towers for weak structures
developers tarp buildings as one
hundreds year old trees able to
withstand hurricanes part of our
natural resources have been replaced
for more condos we really should save
these historic trees young trees take
over sixty years to actually sway and
save the animals including property
the trees actually act as lightning rods
withstanding lightning beautiful to
watch nature these tall palms the
old ones help coast the hurricane
tropical weather continue back out to
sea buildings can’t do that from the
storms trees watch out for marine life
dolphins manatees sea turtles rescue
shelters in place as we keep filling
sandbags we keep our faith prepare
to rebuild our communities and the
State of Florida back God Bless our
Florida leaders Our Governor
his family our families Mayor
Castor her family that’s what
Florida is all about God bless
America stay safe take shelter
protect your families hunker down
Prayers for Florida
Save the Trees
