in the light, bruising shadows shun the moon and stars, the wind who blows, the nightly wishes – rivers of hope seaside moments, poured out on the sand remembering the silence of yesterday’s sin – her secrets no longer mute, but hesitant to tell what has been, the truth stirs her tears, her fears, the years overflowing with soundless dread remembering the pain that is all a part of what was, what has been her heritage, the sting of a past where she shed her tears in the quiet, overcast by the clouds who loom above, revealing darkness who reminds the night what is to come, the anger the rage, the muted breath of grief a hope growing dim on the edges of a heart who once loved, a heart who has been defeated with leftover resentment, p r o v o k i n g expressions of shame darkening the web of despair where her colors came into play, revealing light, lingering feelings of yesterday’s glittering still, like the rivers of a dream fading into the music, songs of her destiny, defeated by the ebb and flow of a heavy heart, as the ripple effect of fists blows come to those who remember stunned by the crack of knuckles against the naked cheek, the blows are wise like the black earth staggered by the fury, the cries teasing him with the music of a feeling faded into the quiet, blinded by the eastern skies, the indigo matched by the sunken bruises, defending the nights when he was her king she was like a star in the sky breathing tenderly as the moments flew and finally she knew he was the shadow of her sorrow, hurting like the whisper of a breath who subsides by the seas remembering the night when passions burned and the teasing sun poured over her skin, melting away every fear, all the tears but she can see him, there in the mirror reminding her why she is saying never again the feeling has passed and love it won’t last when the hurt is more a touch, flirting with fragility her wings, broken by the memories furious and colored in scarlet tears, bleeding doubt and remembering the damage prepared by the punches the prayers still float in her heart as she makes a decision no more cruelty no more futility no more – as she begins to see this is not love this is a hard place where nights are chaotic and tears flow, like rivers bleeding into the seas soundless streams of defeat, a silent promise she will never again be the punching bag, the injury – the battered who silently agrees to believe even though she can see he will never change he will never see she just needs peace she just needs to see love that never bleeds love that never screams love that never weeps love, it’s time to leave admit defeat – finally see, without him she’s still complete.

It was long past time for that little bird to take flight. I know how difficult it is to come to that conclusion... I lived that scenario. You've done justice to the plight of so many, Gina.
