Happiness As My Goal
Having wielded power and strength, I've found them null and void
With all my riches, I could, at last, only get annoyed.
Did I not have mammon and mundane glory in fullness?
Did any of these yet bless me with endless happiness?
I must see a bloom as a bloom and adore the beauty.
No nature's gift, great or small, should be a commodity.
Even a blade of grass should teach me as a Bodhi tree:
That facing strains of seasons' changes, I must become free.
Wellness must spring from optimism, and peace must be my core.
Boats of my thoughts that sail wildly must find truth as true shore.
Though once I took pleasure in pride, conceit, and disarray
For my forgiveness, kindness, and goodness, now I must pray.
Love and esteem on each creature, like rains I must shower
My selfless service to all, should stand as my true power.
The poor and lowly should find solace in my words and deeds.
True happiness dwells, I believe, in fulfilling their needs.
