For Folly Was When Adam and Eve Ate
For Folly Was When Adam And Eve Ate
Drowning the naked landscape in a fog
Far away bursting city in its smog
Along the beach sea-salt floats right on in
They, bustling crowd, treading footprints of men
Of the coming storm we dare shut the door
Raging sea-winds batter innocent shore
With the angry weather the mind goes blank
Noisy bars carefree, puke up what they drank
Whilst the far-off Greek Gods watch with sweet glee
Storm knocks down buildings and up-roots giant trees
The usual do-nothing crowd parties inside
Enjoying the change while full of their pride.
Humans cannot stop the weather at all
Failure was insured with Icarus' fall
Hercules bellows and Thor walks the halls
For folly was when Adam and Eve ate
And now we all must face the Hands of Fate.
Robert J. Lindley, 16 verse sonnet.
