When golden starlight abandons darkened skies and halcyon silence greets the paling of dawn... that's when I am able to solemnly contemplate my awakened sentiments in tranquil solitude. Before the world awakens as if in a rendezvous, I linger amidst an interlude, a quiescent tryst. When darkness fades to aurorean glints, I witness the painting of a nuanced murk. There, upon the birth of the sun's horizon is brushed a blended mural in pastel tints slowly rising from the gently rippled sea. On a raft of serenity, I find myself afloat, eyelids closed but able to see more clearly than when they unfold to bustling scenes. I am serene in the placid hush of daybreak, listening to the truth of life's one true purpose. Too often we scurry as ants in hurried moments. In blurred visions my eyes behold the world's noises pelting my ears like tympany drums obscuring significant thoughts from my mind until I could make no pertinent sense of it. But silence explains everything in vivid detail. It enlightens me, leading me into a quiet realm where I am in harmony with peaceful silence and filled with an overwhelming sense of stillness that delves deeper than any sound could proffer.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil...enlighten is indeed the correct word. (IMO) when one finds inner peace, only then will they know true silence. Great subject and very well written, as usual:)Nice write, Lin.

Inner peace allows a clearer vision and a keener sense of perception. Thank you for reading me, Danny.

Silence is truly golden Lin ~ unlike that infernal city din! Hard to appreciate until we (hear it) in its full glory, just like you express here in this wonderful poem, cheers David

The phrase, "I can't hear myself think" came to mind, David. We can hear the beauty of silence. I listen to it every morning before the world around me wakens. Just me and the songbirds. Thanks so very much.

"I witness the painting of a nuanced murk"...That line got me, Lin. A beautifully meditative poetic expression coaxing the reader to relax, be still, exhale...

Nothing beats it Lin, the sound of silence. I grew up in the city and over 30 years ago we moved to a countryside town, best move I ever made. Tom

I've lived in both types of environments; Tom and I will always choose country life over the city when possible. There's so much worth hearing that can't be heard over city din. Thanks a bunch.

Lin, this is utterly beautiful. You gave silence a voice here, and oh what a message it delivered. Very well done, :)

Thanks so much, Vie. Silence does have an important role, if only we take the time to listen.

Alone with one's thoughts in silence is indeed for me a most fruitful experience! Lin, you have very beautifully crafted lines which capture one's mind, enticing the reader to seek such serenity when silence comes to fore! Happy Friday xxoo

Thank you, Mike. It may sound strange, but although I value silence and my alone time, there are moments when subtle sounds soothe me. ie...songbirds greeting the dawn or the soft whirring of fan blades, and of course the trickling waters of a stream. Your comments always lead me to new thoughts.
