This is the change in the acorns. These black ones are from yesterday. The brown ones are actually from years ago, that I had saved in a basket. I have had the area tested with a trustworthy testing person and waiting on results regarding toxins. It is up in the air whether I am moving or not. I haven't heard any woodpecker in the woods, but saw one today and it was thin and sickly looking. the acorns now black compared to those years ago years flash before my eyes Heidi Sands 6/6/23

It is so absolutely amazing to me that something so small can grow into something so tall, so majestic and can keep life flourishing for years, sometimes up to one hundred years. Trees have so much history. Imagine if they could talk.

A lot of rain has caused the outer part of the acorn to semi-rot. The area needs to dry out if that is possible. I enjoyed reading your work. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

Wow, that's terrible Heidi, whoever is responsible should stand trial and be made to pay to clean up the environment. Tom

OMGoodness Heidi! What is happening to this precious blue marble of ours - as if we didn't know! I pray for the earth to be able to heal herself and bring back the woodpeckers and acorns. Have you thought about sending this poetic treasure to a magazine that specializes in environmental issues? It is a treasure. Blessings to you and your beloved forest! Thank you for this gem!

Yes there are a lot of things Vijay. Starting in Spring, the black was in the woods and brooks, etc Lately, there are patches of bare trees with no leaves along the road. It has been shocking, all that has been seen. Thank you for your kind comment. I hope your day is going well :)
