Yoga

Patanjali sat with folded legs Breathing deep and free of will Timeless movements checked and hidden Sound of water, no other thought Arising from earth, water, fire, air and space Senses stilled as the dream within A secret place, a master desiring nothing Soul in peace, a vow of purity He sees eternity and far beyond His soul undying, primeval The jewels he carries within The red ruby lights up the senses The orange carnelian brings creativity The amber radiates confidence and courage The emerald is forgiving and kind The sapphire brings forth the truth The amethyst awakens intuition The diamond connects the Holy One Come says Patanjali Close your eyes and your mind The very centre of your being The jewels are hidden Discover them thru meditation Come says Patanjali Make this life worth living... Patanjali- founder of Yoga Dedicated to all the wonderful people of my country.

An excellent example of your contest. I looked at your contest again and saw that you wanted us to write one like this if we did yoga. I was curious if you would consider humorous ones or rhymed ones. I just had my first experience with yoga and it was rather humorous! Luv, Andrea

Tahera, this is a lovely poem. I took Yoga classs once and they focused more on "positions" of the body than on meditation. Both are needed for Yoga to be spiritually fulfilling. A fine example for your contest! Love, carolyn
