Who I Am Today

Before there was joy, I was alone, and unhappy, Before there was love, I was on thin ice with my family, Before there was honesty, I was a drug addict living in denial, Before there was restraint, I was a criminal, running wild, Before there was redemption, I was someone I wish I didn't know, Before there was courage, all I had, was hope, Before there was forgiveness, I was filled with hate, anger, and greed, Before there was change, I was cruel, vengeful, and mean, When night comes, I lay down, and fold my hands to pray, I thank God, for every second of my life, that made me, Who I am today
