When Fate Is Foe
On the cliff, above the sea,
Looking down at ocean blue.
Memories come back to me,
Memories of me and of you.
Young we were, long ago.
In love and happy, so we thought.
Plans we made, but fate was foe.
All our planning was for naught.
As I watch the wild waves pound
The sand below from this cliff above,
Memories run 'round and 'round,
Memories of my lost love.
You were much too young to die.
I scatter your ashes as I cry.
