Wall Street Hostages

Wailing in the city beyond bridge and bog
Austerity choking the dreams in cribs
Loans have dried up, at noon there is fog
Leverage everything, he pawns his ribs

She drinks and staggers to the new trade
Traditions fall apart by the will to live
Recession crawls and curls atop the spade
Economy everywhere has nothing to give
Except for the looters, fat and cool
Teamsters and workers are like barren mule

Heavy in debt, blind, blind the arguments
Owners of nothing no business can grow
Subtle the pipers anethestic of discontents
Thousands are homeless, pension like snow
Amassed and melted under paws of greed
Governments are impotent, bankers rule
Excess they blame on the workers in need
Suffering hides in shame, but dogs do drool.

Great poem L'nass! It's too bad the 'poor slobs' with little or no money have to bail out the greedy millionaire bank moguls who made the devestating financial mistakes in the first place ... Terry

Your point of view was competently stated. I do disagree with it. Bankers are the engine of our economy, financing small busineses and individual consumers. No one was crying when they were making all of those frivolous loans! You are to be lauded for creating such a lengthy acrostic. This was a tedious endeavour. I am stunningly impressed. Again, your view is succinctly stated! Enjoyed your homily!

Glad I could stimulate debate. Ah, Stephen, if only thinks were what they seem. That is the power of the conjurer ... we are in wonderland.
