Waking the Dawn

Now that the boat is gone, what are we floating on? I used to look into the future and see you But sometimes there’s nothing left for two When two turns to one and one turns to none The hurtful words spat out cannot be undone Now that the end is near, what’s still keeping us here? We've depleted each other’s dreams We've ignored each other’s screams All the stories you tell are almost the same Just mixed around with a different name Now that the words have bled, why aren't we dead? Screaming in the rain down upon my knees Deliver me from this, WON’T YOU PLEASE?! Pull me to the shore and cut off my life vest Just don’t leave me here like you do the rest Now that I’m on the shore, what am I fighting for? I close my eyes and shake this thought Wondering what’s real and what’s not Is it the result of my self medication? Or just the ongoing sleep deprivation? Now that I’m someone new, what’s still holding you? Since all the stars are gone, I’ll awaken the dawn… Letting go of the night now Waking the dawn for you…
