'tween Summer and Winter

Descend, delicate rain of doom. Spatter quietly in insistent breeze. Break, gold and red, as branches sneeze. Burn a stack of saddened leaves. Agitate limbs to nakedness. You are my fall. I am your slave until winter’s uncivilized brawl wipes life away. It’s still October. The glorious hiatus warms me and then will rapidly be gone; a tale re-told. Kathryn Collins October 14, 2013

"Descend, delicate rain of doom"... I wish that line were mine... Love, Terry (and I love the rest of the poem too...)

You make the impending doom of Winters chill seem just a little less bitter. Drink some cocoa, throw on some long sleeves and get out there to rake away the memories of Summer. Build a mound of leaves from dormant trees and jump right in for one last joy. Then gather them together once again, set them afire, and burn them as a pyre in honor of the warm days gone by. HEY!! I think I just wrote my next poem and my first one for the new season. Thanks for making me think. Rockman :-)

It seems a long while since I've seen your work..first of all..I had almost forgotten how gifted a poet you are,,, "winter's uncivilized brawl" is enough to know that you are blessed with another eye to see the world in a unique way.I envy such a gift if words like this. Secondly on my mind, your kind comments this morning.....not just one, but several of the poems I had written, had some of the nicest compliments I have yet to receive. You were most generous, I thank you so much dear Kathryn.

Ah, morbid speculation. I am at that age when I know I should adore the present minute, but am miserable with looking ahead. You are so with it. Love, daver

About your poem... Your poetry reminds me of life taking a class of change.... The sun rising - releasing it's light oh how sweet the falling scenery. Your words run smooth and slow... watching it all take place.. Winter at the tip of my feet, greeting another story another tale.. ALL THE SAME. love this one, it has brilliance over all -----------over nature and her teasing seasons.... enjoyed...LINDA

Hum, Kathryn, I wish poets like you would visit me often.... I'm just saying, cuz, you seem to be an amazing poet, and it's a shame to ME.. I've only read a few of your poems... I would love to come back, and read more from you. I only keep up with the poets whom visit me. :). That is why I said, "I wish poets like you would visit my poems often." No offence. I just think, you are AMAZING, and I highly recommend your poems ((TO MYSELF)).... hugs... A FAN LINDA
