Too Busy Imagining

There are some that still crave The smell of an old fashioned page The look and feel Of a bygone age And there are some that prefer A Nook or Kindle That awesome feeling of lifting A whole library Without hardly thinking! Pick a side! Pick a side! They scream at me But why bother wasting such precious time? I could be reading!

Good point. I'm the weird type of reader that actually reads the author's notes and all the "boring" stuff haha. I'm probably considered the booky papery type, but screen-readin's convenient and fun too! I take it as it really doesn't matter as long as the content is good, and the words make it to our brains and our hearts. Great grook! Always, Laura

Thanks Laura. This was my first grook that I ever wrote, so it's not my best .... but I LOVE this form. And hey, the author's notes are like the little maraschino cherries on top of a sundae ... they are Bonuses (with a capital B) ;)

Never have been much of a reader. Never could sit still long enough! My thing was creating... this, that, and the other thing. If I told you how many interests I've had in my very rewarding life, I'd have to do it my Soup Mail! Maybe I will one day. Great topic my friend!

Having a world of interests is a good thing though, right? Keeps everything from going mundane... the odd thing is that I'm a hugely sporadic pacer and yet I love to read as well (which you have to sit down to do... *shrugs*)... feel free to Soup Mail me anytime, Jack! :)

I used to go for paper only but nowadays it helps to read from your phone, too. So.. yeah I'm okay with both. I enjoyed this so much. check on ur soupmail :)

It's not only for reading books. On the Kindle Fire you can also watch movies and use the handy notepad (which is something I use quite a lot). Glad you enjoyed my quirky poem... these "grooks" are might interesting to play around with.

Well done!! The smell.....that old dusty smell that hits you when you pick up an old classic...that's what I prefer, especially on a quiet winter's night! Welcome to Soup and thanks for sharing this. Best wishes for the contest, too. Annalise

It seems there are very few people that actually prefer tablets... *shrugs* Thanks for the welcome! I'm really liking it here so far! And also are you referring to my other post 'Paper World'? Because this grook poem isn't entered into any contest...

Very nice, Timothy. I think your poem encapsulates a major conflict in our society. I have a tablet which I rarely use. I prefer the feel of a real book in my hands. Jack

As long as one can enjoy getting lost in the words it's good enough for me. Thanks for reading as always!

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! Wow! Love the last line. Well, I'm afraid I like the feel of an old book...a classic...Jane Eyre...Pride and Prejudice...the feel of paper under my fingertips....know that this book has me under its spell...I must read...turn the page...read....until I reach the end and can exhale!

Thanks you so much Eileen! This was my very first attempt at a grook poem so I'm glad it wasn't terrible! Though I lean towards the classic way of reading I do admit a Kindle has it's perks! Books can take up a lot of space for me and I'm a very heavy reader. I just think it's funny how people like to make an argument about which is better when the most important thing is that fact that you are reading. It's the words that count.
