Til Life Do Us Part

We promised each other forever,
It turned out to be whenever,
We were to be together when growing old,
It seems that idea grew cold,
Our hearts the other still need,
Though we stubbornly don't heed,
Do you still yearn?
Because to forget you, my heart cannot learn,
The memories we shared, I treasure,
How I covet the thought that we make more at leisure,
My feelings may be unrequited,
In your heart I may be uninvited,
My heart is not by itself respected,
Hankering where it is not elected
Dreams that were so lovingly woven,
Have now been stolen
But had you wanted to be with me,
That's where you would be...

Awesome read . . . very poignantly sad though. Welcome to poetry soup Daisy Duck, and I hope to read many more positive poems from you in the very near future! Love, light and peace always, Fathima
