Through the Eyes of Another

Just once I wish that someone
else could see things the way I see,
but through the eyes of another,
they think that it's just me.

When I look into the mirror I
don't like what I see,
but through the eyes of another,
I'm as good as I can be.

I see and hear alot of things
that other people don't,
but through the eyes of another,
they say forget it but I won't.

People always tell me just
take things day by day,
but through the eyes of another,
maybe I should find another way.

I live my life in so much pain
because of the love'd one's I have lost,
but through the eyes of another,
it's just another path to cross.

I get so mad at myself for
the way I handle things,
but through the eyes of another,
they just don't care what it brings.

This life I have lived just
seems to be unfair,
but through the eyes of another,
I made it through on a wing and prayer.

Beautiful and very inspirational. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to take an honest look at ourselves. The "eyes of another" (God) are always so much more forgiving of our short comings than we are. This poem makes me want to look at myself through the eyes of someone that holds that unconditional love for me. Thank you so much for sharing this piece. I really love the last stanza as I can relate to it so well. Excellently penned with great flow from beginning to end. Smiles from Lolita

Coleen, if you don't know your masterful; i'm telling you now you are. not many poets here could have composesed this work of art. you have the gift and the spirit of God that makes you extrodinary in the things that you write. if your pain has a porpose it has served you well. to my favs this goes. and with a copy taken home. i only have twenty cents and the copy cost a dime. that's how good this is. i can totally relate to this. sometimes when i look into the mirror, i'm never satisfied with myself. it takes time to realize that we all as human beings have a purpose in this life. as soon as we find that purpose, our life truly begins.

An interesting write. It is true people often see things different than we do. Sometimes I hear people telling me, "oh, you are managing so well", when inside I have been feeling very inadequate. But sometimes, it does help to see how others see us, because we can also be quite hard on ourselves. Thank you for sharing. Caroline.
