They Pray To God

A thousand lives in fear of hell
Through tears and pain they suffered well
They are the lost, can’t find their way
They suffer on from day to day
They cry for mercy with fear and dread
They live their lives among the dead
Their lives are not in their control
They pray “God Save Me, please spare my soul”

They raise their head and say “What’s this?”
“I heard a thought, it felt like bliss
I need to listen, it could be right
It sounded good, I saw a light
I have this feeling, I can’t suppress
That I can defeat this emptiness
I see there’s truths I’ve not been told”
They pray to God “Please tell me more”

A sudden vision strikes their soul
“I see that truth can make me whole
I now must know the final truth
That I couldn’t see when in my youth
I see it now, there’s no need for pain
It’s how you play it, what you learn in the game
I can control my destiny
The greater truth has set me free”
They see that man has had a fall
They pray for wisdom, to know it all

They thank the Lord that they finally see
They are the Gods of their destiny
They look upon their fellow man
With pity, for they know they can
Assist them through their painful strife
And learn the purpose of their life
Their lives can be in their control
They are the masters of their soul

“For one last time I shall return
To help my fellow man to learn
The path to wisdom, to save his soul”
They pray “Thank God, you made me whole”
