The Witch and the Judge

A Witch must confirm the Powers in her possession
Before performing an anticipated condemnation
The guilty Judge, rendered immobile and speechless
Wets himself, cowering, trussed and helpless
As the Witch intones the Powers’ sacred Creed
That she has sworn to obey and heed.

“The Powers were forged when Time came to be
And Passing Ages defined, refined and set free
These powers to restore and dispense justice
Ultimately entrusted by selection and decree
Unto my ancestors in the beginning at last unto me
At birth all Powers were given into my hand
All Powers subject to my sole Summons and Command.”

The Witch, glaring, recalls the Judge’s evil past
The creature’s abhorrent madness is ending at last
The Judge mercilessly burned the Witch’s mother at the stake
Her only crime was her child’s safe and secret escape
Ahead of a fate intended by the Judge’s abusive plan
To force her daughter into ruin favored by this evil man.

“Hear me, Judge, henceforth known as Evil Doer
Thou committed Evil Deeds vicious and depraved
Unlawfully condemning innocents to premature graves
Dispensing injustice disguised as sanctioned practice
Hiding with cunning and cowardice behind Robes of Justice
Meting out evil for pleasure then decreeing by mouth and hand
Pounding the Gavel of Authority so thy Evil Deeds would stand
Thy presence befouls the world and sickens the air we breathe
Thy punishment will mirror my Mother’s you so foully bequeathed.”

“I Summon and Command the Judge’s committed Evil Deeds
To erase all memories upon which they thrive and feed
They shall create a consuming conflagration
Hurling Evil Doer into obliteration
Pull upright this Evil Doer so he doth stand
Kneeling in repentance is denied this Sinner
His Retribution is at hand.
Evil Doer’s punishment shall be by FIRE
No stake or ropes to hold him fast
Let flames spontaneously ignite
Evil Doer will suffer grievously before his demise this night
Let FIRE devour and savor, let it consume and overcome
Evil punished, evil devoured, Justice Is Done
The Evil Doer whose presence evoked such pain and dread
Is Punished. Incinerated. Destroyed. Dead.”

The Witch’s head nods wearily, tears welling, falling
Sighing, she whispers, “Great Evil banished, all is well
The Evil Doer is finished and consigned to Hell
Farewell, Dearest Mother, Rest in Peace,
You have been avenged, lie easy, your torment has ceased.”
