The Vanishing
Since summer lost to fall
Winters got a grip
One solitary spark, now a firestorm
Cars lined up like smog filled rats
With terror filled eyes
Blinking lights as if hazards signaled
Sympathy
I saw the green turn to amber
Never slowed down
Never looked around
Drones are closing quick now
Hazy nights in my head
Shades of red wishing green
The warm sway in my mind as I walk
Through the pine forest
Sweet scented needles with every carpeted step
The soothing "tic tic" of red headed woodpeckers
The warm mist off lake superior, baptizing
The doe and her fawn
As they lift their heads when I walk by
Joining me in prayer
